GUATEMALA MAYA ROUTE
This trip through Guatemala starts and ends in the beautiful city of Antigua. From there we drive around Lago Antitlan and follow the Indian towns of Quetzaltenango and Chichiquastenango. Then we drive into the northern jungle in search of the ancient Mayan settlements of Tikal and Lanquin. We descend again along the border with Belize, stopping in the special town of Livingston, which is only accessible by boat. Then follow some exciting routes along the border with Honduras before we return to Antigua.
This Mayan route not only introduces you to the ancient Indian culture and the impressive ruins they have left behind, but also allows you to visit cozy classical places and colorful Indian markets. Moreover, it is an experience to drive through the beautiful, varied nature of this country.
This is not a very difficult or arduous journey, but one with many cultural components and beautiful landscapes.
